Respect for nature combined with an interest in structural design inspires GREEN BUILDING

This small series of photos helps to show the process of building a simple wooden structure. The first photo shows a floor which is tied to stone piers, with stud walls sitting on top. A single pitch roof is built onto the walls and covered with roofing felt and corrugated galvanised tin or clear perspex.

The walls are also felted, and then they are covered with horizontal planks of larch, as shown in the final photo. This structure, which is insulated throughout, is the BigGreenArt studio, and is a very warm dry space.

Using the basic principles outlined above, these techniques can be used to create a comfortable living space, which are also cheap and easy to build.
