big green art logoI was always able to draw, from an early age. It was this ability to draw what I could see, and really see what I was looking at, which has helped me throughout my life. I am a qualified civil engineer, and I was able to ’see’ it for what it was, and could see that it was not for me. I was able to draw my way out of an engineering life, using this artistic ability to earn a living, and ’see’ what was really real.

For example, I was at school for 17 years of my young life, and when I was ‘released’, I realised I had not been taught how to be a functional adult i.e. I had been institutionalised to perform a very specific role, as an engineer. No life skills, no social skills, no practical skills. So I spent the next long while blundering my way about trying to gain the ability to be fully human, and trying to uneducate my academic brain to become more of a holistic practical person. Of course, now I realise that the education system is a massive mistake, and needs a huge overhaul if we are going to see our children being able to cope with a fast and unpredictable post Peak-Oil future. Time for some real teaching, children….
